FUK:GLAM

thread burns, wet willies, perforated fingernails and linty lungs… the risks of being a crafty bitch

About

Hello and welcome to the FUK:GLAM studios!

We are a couple of crafty bitches in Montreal getting off on making stuff and loving it. Having combined our skills, tools, attitudes, and ideas collected through years of fashion design and graphic art experience and training, we are a powerful creative force with expert problem solving skills and style intuition.

By sharing our projects and intentions we are motivating and inspiring each other to reach our goal – self-sufficiency doing what we love to do!

Networking, sharing information, and continuous learning is what this website is for… and of course having FUN! We hope you will join us, tell us what you’re working on, and who knows what will happen. Maybe we can help each other avoid wage slavery.

What does FUK:GLAM mean?

“FUCK GLAM – FREE TEKNO!” was spotted on a flyer/poster for a free party and it was used as a slogan referring to the anti-mainstream, get-your-hands-dirty, and DIY attitudes of freetekno friends and supporters.

A little PIN:KSOX flair was added for a screen print design and FUK:GLAM appeared on many t-shirts and accessories at freetekno parties making it the anti-brand label representing the screen printing, skill sharing, and DIY style appreciated by the freetekno community.

Why “FUK” Glam?

The following video explains the historical, cultural, and technical meaning of glamour and how it is used to manipulate and deceive perceptions of reality. Not always a bad thing necessarily, but reality is much more interesting and fulfilling. Desire for “transcending”, perfection, purity, or at least something other than what we’ve got only gives us reason to be unhappy with what we can have. Having control of your perspective is having control of your reality.

If you are going to appreciate something glamourous, and we all do… be it fashion, lifestyle, ideas, material possessions, etc… consider all the effort, dedication, passion, time, and hard work that goes into making it possible because that is where its true value lies (personal and perceived).

Fuk unattainable utopias or ideals.

Fuk the awe of impossibility, enjoy “the cords of life”, the process, and the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

Fuk idolizing perfection… because you know it isn’t real.
