deconstructed screen printing

kerr grabowski

I stumbled on this demo on youtube…

awesome right?

I had most of it figured out, found various recipes for “print paste” using alginate and urea, but wanted to support Kerr (cuz she rocks!).

I found most of what I need easily enough, still need to find the water softener, but hoping the hardware store has it.

I ordered her DVD, and got it in the mail today!

will update here later…

Got the DVD in the mail within a week of ordering it… really great to watch, she also gives a lot of tips on building a printing board, reviews and tips for all the equipment like squeegees and types of screens and screen mesh… preparing the screens for printing… SO MUCH GOOD INFO I love it

Turns out tho I bought the wrong ink, rather I bought paint by accident, and for this process ink isn’t used at all… should have got fiber reactive dye!! so I’ve ordered some from ebay and hope to get it soon so I can start with this awesome deconstructive technique.

looking for textures… bits of things and stuff… fun times :)

So the dye I ordered never came. The people had some kind of natural disaster, took forever to send it, and then apparently it got lost at the sorting facility. Never even made it to the border. But it did have a pound of white soda ash… who knows?
