Using a Deconstructed screen printing process where dye is mixed with a thickener which is applied to the screen and allowed to dry. This creates a texture on the screen that is released using a clear thickened paste containing a wetting agent. 100% cotton pieces of repurposed “couch” were soaked in Soda Ash to make fibres acidic and ready to react with reactive dyes. Washed and hung to dry… ironed… and then printed… dried… washed, washed, washed, and washed again by hand… finally with detergent in the washing machine and hung to dry.
